The Texas Education Agency is reviewing a proposal from the Texas Department of Public Safety that would give more money to local hunters and their programs, according to a Texas Tribune report.

The proposed budget would allow more money for local hunters to train, assist, and conduct educational programs on a limited basis.

The proposal is being reviewed by the Texas Education Board.

The proposed budget for 2018 would add $2.4 million for hunter education, according the Tribune report, adding $3 million for a hunter education initiative that was already in place in 2017.

Hunters training is expected to increase from about $20 million to more than $50 million, according reports from the University of Texas at Austin and the University at Buffalo.
