President Malia Obama, the daughter of former President Barack Obama, has been the subject of several reports by the White House, including a report from CBS News that says the Obamas have been discussing an investigation into allegations of improper activity by the Obams’ daughters, who are all students at a top-tier school.
The CBS report says the reports have been referred to the Justice Department, but a spokesperson for the White Houses Office of Government Ethics, which is responsible for vetting the work of the administration’s top officials, declined to comment.
White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders did not respond to requests for comment.
A White House official told CBS News earlier this week that the WhiteHouse has no plans to investigate any of the Obamas’ children.
A spokesperson for Malia’s office did not immediately respond to a request for comment from The Hill.
The reports, which have been made public before, come at a time when Malia has been under scrutiny for the first time in her life.
She has been criticized by members of her own family for her social media posts.
A day after CBS News released the report, her former husband, rapper Jay-Z, called Malia “a disgrace to the White house,” and a “bad mother” in a series of tweets.
The Obamas were criticized for a social media post on their Twitter account.
A former advisor to President Obama said he thinks the Obas have a lot of work to do in their administration.
“I think the president has done a lot to get people to believe that they can be successful and the president hasn’t really been able to get that belief,” said John Podesta, who served as chief of staff for President Barack Hussein Obama and was deputy chief of policy for Obama’s 2016 campaign.
The president has had a tough year, with the economy tanking and unemployment at an all-time high.
The White House has blamed the economy for the higher rates and the increased number of Americans living in poverty, but the administration has defended their actions.
The Associated Press reported that in early August, the Obama White House announced that it was closing a private office that was part of the Whitehouse office of strategic partnerships and strategic planning.
It also closed the White Office of Domestic Policy, which has been tasked with advising the president on policy, according to The Hill’s reporting.
